What is osteoporosis? Does CBD support bone health?
Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weak, brittle, and more inclined to break.
Bones are created from minerals, elastic fibers called collagen fibers. The cells may develop, mold, or reabsorb bones. While we are young, our bones shape quicker than they reabsorb, but this doesn't work this way forever. When we reach 35, we may start losing total bone substance, and therefore their density. Excessive bone loss leads to osteoporosis, when bones break more easily, particularly with injuries like falling over. With osteoporosis, new bone creation doesn't keep up with old bone removal and bone issue replacing process slows down.
Osteoporosis' Risk factors:
- a family history of osteoporosis
- age (adults 50+ are at the highest risk)
- previous bone fractures
- early menopause (before the age of 45)
- vitamin D inefficiency
- calcium inefficiency
- lack of exercise
- alcohol intake
Sings of Osteoporosis
- back pain - collapsed / fractured vertebra - height loss - stooped posture - grip strength loss
The word osteoporosis means ‘porous bones’, bones become weak and can break easier. Even though this condition mostly affects older people, anybody at any age could be a target. Several studies and scientific researches state that cannabidiol (CBD oil) products support osteoporosis prevention. CBD oil supports our body’s natural endocannabinoid system, which, according to the studies, is involved in bone density regulation. CBD for Osteoporosis Prevention Support How does CBD help with osteoporosis?
CBD oil benefits the entire body since it functions upon all our inner endocannabinoid system. CBD operates on both concentrations in the endocannabinoid system.
Researches have discovered that bone cells express cannabinoid receptors and endocannabinoid metabolizing enzymes, they’re part of the extensive system of cells that are regulated by the ECS. CBD supports Bone Mass health: According to research, CBD supports the growth and strengthening of bones through accelerated osteoblast formation. Researchers believe that osteoclasts — the cells that breakdown bone — have a cell receptor that, when activated, speeds up bone loss and degeneration. This receptor is known as GPR55. CBD has been shown to specifically block the activation of this receptor, reducing osteoclast activity.
As we all process CBD differently, the dosage may vary for different individuals. It is always better to start with a small dose (20/25 mg per day), see how you react, and gradually increasing by 5 mg to 10 mg per day.
Calcium is important for bone health support. If you suffer from osteoporosis, you might need to add extra calcium to your diet along with vitamin D which helps the body absorb calcium.
